A GOOD Friday

Here are a few pics from around the house. The kid's start their Spring Break today. 11 days off- yippy~
That's my little guy there on the couch- he wasn't feeling all so good, so he made it in the pic!

Our dinner was fabulous the other night! There was a LIVE CAJUN BAND playing that night- the kids had so much fun dancing! The crawfish were YUMMY!

My hubby is off today as well, so he will be finishing up on his HONEY DO LIST that has to be completed before his MOTHER-IN-LAW arrives! he he he!

Easter Party

Getting ready for a little Easter Party and Egg Hunt at my 4yr. old's school in the morning. I found these darling little felt bags and the little chicks are cut from yellow felt and have alittle yellow feather and a tiny black bead eye! TOO CUTE! I filled them with goodies for the kids- I don't over kill on candy-which I am sure the other moms appreciate- but a few jelly beans did find their way into the fillable eggs -he he~ Other items included are bubbles in an egg shaped holder, easter pencils, stickers, erasers, colors,some dum dums and some sweet tarts!


I had to include this pic- You may have read in a Valentine's post that my little one had started to write his name. Well, he has gotten so good at it that he writes it all the time. I had tried to get him to sign all his valentine cards- NO WAY would he do it- Well he asked today to sign these little tags I included on the bags- ALL 15 of them! HA! Gotta love his enthusiasm!
I have so much fun doing these little parties- since I know the time will soon come when there will be no more- My 10 yr. old has out grown such things- though he did sneak in my studio this afternoon asking if I had made anything for him to give to his teachers!
AHHH~ what a compliment! I let him pick from some goodies I had put on Etsy and some other little favs- So sweet that he would be so proud of his momma! To not be embarrassed to give away her goods! Made my day I have to say!

Well I still have chores to do before I can lay my head to rest! We are going out for a big family dinner tomorrow night! Crawfish! Yummy! My Dad, brother and his new wife, my baby sister and her significant other, and my clan! We will be getting together for Easter, but my brother and his new bride are doing the "Every-other Holiday is at this or that family" thing now that they are married, so they won't be here for Easter Sunday when we will be with the entire family. We always have a great time. I usually come home hurting from laughing so hard! I am looking forward to being with them.

A new day

These last couple of weeks have just run together. We have been super busy around here! We are in the middle of LEAP Testing Week! Standardized testing for all 4th & 8th graders in Louisiana. We had this in Tx- the TAAS test it is called. One must pass with basic knowledge or above to move on to the next grade. My son is not so great with testing of this style. He is Dyslexic, so his ability to take standardized tests is very difficult and frustrating for him. We have just one more day after today and then we wait- until MAY - for the results- PURE AGONY!!
ALSO, my mother is coming for a visit. eek! We spent this past weekend in the yard, sprucing up beds, yard, and throwing out old toys the boys have too many of. We keep this huge "Ball Bin" in the garage- to me everything should fit in there and when it doesn't, well it should be thrown out. I mean how many footballs, soccer, baseballs can one have or better yet NEED??? Well, ALOT- so I've been told! Now that some of the outside has been attended to, my focus is the INSIDE.

My mother will be staying with us for about 8 days, so I can't stash things in places like closets or the laundry room. Oh and BTW- I have a brother who is married and a sister that live near by and I can bet they will be getting away with lots of stashing!! I am really a pretty good house keeper, but I do have a habit of rushing and not getting things back to their PROPER PLACE! Actually my mother is not really a WHITE GLOVE type- and the house will have that neat- yet- LIVED IN LOOK-I mean I have BOYS that live here! I just like to give it some extra attention since she only comes in a few times a year-

And with SPRING'S newness in the air I've been a bit inspired to try some re-arranging and changing out little vignettes around the house while I'm at it! PLUS, her house is FABULOUS- I mean MAGAZINE FABULOUS! I will post some pics of the inside at another time, for now here are some freshly opened blooms from different spots around the yard!

Trash to Treasure

I hit a local Flea Market over the weekend. I wouldn't call it a bomb, but my finds were kinda whimpy. The Flea Markets here are not all that good. I long for the months ahead when I will be traveling home to Texas. They have the best little markets around there. The entire road trip you find little towns with loads of treasures to stop at along the way. And the prices are extreamly fair! Here are a few pics of the finds I did come away with. I noticed many of you did the same this weekend- the weather must be improving all over.

I did find a good selection of vintage seam binding. The colors were all in yummy spring shades of pale yellows, pinks and gorgeous greens. An armful of Vintage Sheet Music came home with me, some baskets, glass jars for goods,Vintage tinsel garland- cause Christmas is only 10 months away!(he he he!),and other little misc pretties!

This little basket came full of vintage trims and lace doilies! It was found at little garage sale on the drive home!

I believe the weather is FINALLY going to co-operate and let SPRING in! This time of year is soooo inspiring. With new-ness all in bloom, the warmer temps, and all the gorgeous colors that are in sight. One cannot help but be inspired by all that is SPRING! It's a good thing! Which leads me to the Queen of all GOOD! Did anyone catch MARTHA this morning? I've recorded it since I was out at the Flea Market all morning and I'm watching it now! Great to see so many artist featured.

Eggs Eggs Eggs

Added these little eggs to my Etsy shop. They feature some of my Vintage fabric flowers and trims as well as having a fabulous aroma to them! I made some like these years ago for my little grandmother when I was younger. Brought back so many sweet dear memories while I was putting these together! Spring has SpRuNg!

Flea Market Treasures

I have long been a collector of, well, stuff! Junk to some, pretties to others. Little trinkets, old china, chippy shelves and bits. Anything well worn and loved. In getting into the Spring mode, we have been clearing out closets, and drawers, boxes that have been stashed away and forgotten, and clearing out room for a less is more feel. Well, that's what my hubby thinks-

I do have lots of things that I do need to move on, and that's where you're in luck! I will continue my junkin' expeditions, but at times one needs to let go of some things that would be more suited and loved in another ones home! I love the idea of a Flea Market online. I have run across several of these over the years. Many have certain days of the week they put their precious finds up for all those to see. I like that idea, but it's not always likely that every week I would want to part with my junk- I mean Pretties! he he~

So, I will however, here and there, be posting some finds to share. If you are interested in anything you see let me know. I occasionaly list items at my Ebay shop. I will have pics here first - the morning of, and then that night the items will be listed for auction, giving my blog friends a first look! Here are just a few of the things I will be putting up later tonight!

Easter Good-ness

Some new items have made their way down the Bunny Trail and into my Etsy shop! Found some fabulously-gorgeous White Vintage Embossed Wallpaper to make some tussies with. Other goodies include some boxes with Easter Toppers, nest, and picks. Also, Spring Journals are in production. Come by and take a look. Happy LOVE Day

Here are some pics of some goodies going to my 4 year old's preschool for a Valentine's Party. My 4th grader no longer has school parties- No exchange of little valentine -fold over cards, or little hand written notes to a friend. I know we still did that when I was 10. No more though- So I get to still have fun and get little valentines ready for my "baby"
Here he signed the back- We had 25 cards to make- He got tired after autographing only two cards! I secretly kept one ( he he! )

He just learned to write his name, and it is so sweet how much energy and effort it took. It was a valentine to myself!

On a different note, Spring goodies will be in My Etsy Shop starting Friday! Love this time of year- Fresh, new starts!

Make a Wish.....

I picked up these Star Shaped Paper Mache boxes awhile back and knew right away what I wanted to do, just finding the time to get things done is always the challenge! I had to of course do one for the Birthday Boy as I have two!

Will do a girl version as well! There is a 10 page Chipboard Album tucked away inside! I have this and some Fabulous little Valentine goodies in the shop!

sweet friend ~ sweet gift

My sweet little friend Cathy is a doll! She recently picked out a Tussie from my Etsy Shop that she liked and I was more than happy to give her. She suprised me this morning with these goodies. So many lovelies! This litle Vintage Book is filled with love quotes and victorian illustrations to inspire ones love letter writing and perhaps some valentine paper piecings to come!

Also, lots of old vintage book pages and this Fabulous Hand stiched trim that has these precious hearts! LOVE THAT! I have been trying to convience her to do more of her wears! She is a Fabulous little creator in her own right.

Geaux Tigers!!!

Hello All! Hope everyone is off to having a great week! We certainly are! Kid's went back to school today after being out for nearly 3 weeks, Husbands' back at work, which is great on both sides- I get my house back and he gets out of me asking him to do this or that project!! ha ha, the weather hit a nice 75 today and the Tigers are playing tonight at the Super Dome going for the National Championship------GEAUX TIGERS!!!!

I have added a few little Valentine goodies in my Etsy Shop- Just a little something to get in the mood =)

Well, we are off to smalltown(san marcos,tx) We have about an 8hr drive, but it will be so nice to be home again! The car is busting at every inch, Christmas carols are on the radio, sugar cookies and chocolate sweeties to eat, little ones fighting in the back seat. Threatning to "turn this car around" OH the Holidays!!
It will be here and gone in that funny way that it always does. Remember to slow down and enjoy a moment or two~ The warm hugs from loved ones, hot chocolate and a glowing fireplace, those ever redundant carols we all know, the smile of delight on a child's face as they open that gift they have been begging for days to get into!!

Enjoy your Holiday and may the New Year bring health and happiness to you all!
